Bio — Licensed to practice law in both North and South Carolina, Dena is a member of the North
Carolina Bar Association, the Wake County/Tenth Judicial District Bar, the North Carolina
Association of Defense Attorneys, and is licensed to practice in all federal district courts throughout North Carolina.
Dena has also worked for a variety of both commercial and personal lines insurance carriers with claims involving professional liability and negligence, automobile negligence, premises liability, and construction defects. She has experience in trying cases as well as resolving them through alternative dispute forums.
With her law practice centered in Raleigh and Cary, North Carolina, Dena has litigated cases throughout the state. While her practice has been primarily focused on all facets of insurance defense litigation, Dena has also represented businesses and individuals in contract disputes, personal injury matters, landlord-tenant issues, and has drafted, negotiated, and litigated non-competition agreements for employers and employees.
Born and raised in Hertford, North Carolina, Dena received a Bachelor of
Arts in History cum laude from Meredith College in 1997, where she was an Honors Scholar and North Carolina Teaching Fellow. Following graduation, she worked as a high school teacher at East Wake High School.
Dena graduated from Campbell University’s Norman Adrian Wiggins School of Law in 2001.
While in law school, she was a class representative to the Student Bar Association and was a
member of several trial teams that competed nationally. She received honors for achieving the
highest grade in Wills and Trusts and was inducted into the National Order of Barristers upon
her graduation.
During her tenth class reunion at Meredith, Dena was named President of the Meredith College Alumnae Association, the youngest person to serve in that role since the early years of the Association. She also serves on the Board of Directors of Horse & Buddy, a local therapeutic horseback riding program. Dena was also named a 2010 Rising Star by North Carolina Super Lawyers.
